Toast is arguably the original NYC Indie Group created out of an Improv Level 3 Class taught by Armando Diaz in Early 2001. The majority of their performances took place at Freaks Local 413.

Founding members were Bob Wiltfong, Amy Rhodes, Sam Reigel, Anne Nodar, Shannon O'Neill, Will Becton and Patrick Carone.

Bob Wiltfong eventually left the group and Ed Helms (Daily Show, The Office) was added to the roster. At some point Kevin Hines and Sean Taylor became members of Toast, and then the group dissolved shortly after that.

  • They majority of their rehearsals took place at CHARAS/El Bohio Community & Cultural Center located on East 9th Street.
  • Their last rehearsal took place at an office space that Mike Birbiglia rented out as his writing space and then he rented the space out at night to improv groups.
  • They sometimes performed with special guests like Jackie Clarke.[1]
