The Throng is a student improv group at Haverford College in Haverford, PA. Formed in 2000 as the Sketchy Players, the group changed its name to The Throng in 2003 and dedicated itself to longform improv. Since that change in focus many fine improvisers have shaped and embellished the group's artistic identity, with occasional help from imported UCB workshops. The last decade also saw the group become one of the most popular student performance groups on campus, regularly packing the Lunt Basement venue for regular shows.
The Throng has performed at the Del Close Marathon, the Dirty South Improv Festival, the Philadelphia Improv Festival, and elsewhere in and around the Philadelphia area. The Throng has shared the stage with such luminous groups as Dillinger, The Shoves, 1985, Rare Bird Show, and Illegal Refill. Additionally, many Throng alumni and alumnae have pursued post-graduate comedic projects.
