The Gashouse Gorillas is a sketch comedy troupe based in New York City.

History

The Gashouse Gorillas were formed by five Purchase College students in the winter of 2004. Originally there were four performers: Andrew Jupin, Stephen Sajdak, Justin J. Case and Adam Schulmerich; and a videographer/director: Sean Weiner.

The group wrote, produced and starred in two shows while at Purchase: Living in a Monotheistic Society and Come Clean. These shows were extravagant stage productions that included video sketches mixed in with costumed stage sketches. Both shows featured all the Gorillas in sketches as well as large casts of supporting players.

After Come Clean Schulmerich left the group and moved to Chicago to study at Second City. At this time, Weiner joined the group in a more full-time acting capacity, while still directing and producing all the video bits.

The group relocated to New York full-time in the fall of 2006 and continues to produce videos and play stage shows off and on.
