Steven Slate is an improviser based in New York. He's been on the teams Big Tobacco, Death League Tea Party, Jungle! Jungle!, Appleheads, and Phooka. He's also appeared in shows such as One Night Stand directed by Charlie Todd, The Nights of Our Lives, Cracked Out, and Ampersand. He created and performed in True Hollywood Stories with Big Tobacco and director Bobby Moynihan. He trained at the UCB Theatre and Magnet Theater, taking his first improv class just 4 days after he moved to NY in June 2005 with Jackie Clarke. He's appeared briefly on screen with many great improvisers in 4 episodes of Adult Swim's Fat Guy Stuck in Internet.
Steven grew up in Feeding Hills Massachusetts. He was an avid skier and snowboarder growing up. He was the president of his class at Agawam High School. He went to the Art Institute of Philadelphia for media studies after high school. He's been dj'ing since the age of 15, mostly spinning hip-hop and drum and bass. He was an original member of True Crew, a rave outfit that consistently threw the biggest and best parties in Massachusetts. In 2000 he opened for rapper Jeru tha Damaja at the Asylum in Springfield Mass. Steven has a checkered past which he wont get into now, but that led him to work at the St Jude Retreat House in upstate NY, a residential program for people with substance abuse problems. He quickly became director of the program and contributed to the program textbook and other educational materials. He left there to pursue work in entertainment in NYC.
Steven is an Objectivist, and holds every view implied by that philosophy.
