Pass the Clap

Pass the Clap is a simple warm-up that focuses on attentiveness and being aware of the group members around you. The goal is to maintain a steady rhythm of synchronized claps between two people at a time, while it is passed around the room. Eye contact is important in sending and receiving the clap.

Instructions

This exercise may be performed in a stationary, circle formation or while everyone is walking around the room.

One person in a group of preferably four or more people makes eye contact with another person in the group and claps once. The person receiving the eye contact and the clap should try to match her clap with the initial person's movement, resulting in a single clap sound. After the second person completes the motion, she immediately initiates her own clap and passes the clap to a third person, who should similarly receive the clap in synchronism.
