Mister Licorice was formed as a house team for the Baltimore Improv Group in the fall of 2007, led by director Jim McGarvey. Mister Licorice performed regularly throughout 2008 as a troupe in the Baltimore Improv Group, in addition to performance at the Baltimore Improv Festival, the Philadelphia Improv Festival (PHIF), and the Del Close Marathon.

In December 2008, Alex Hill moved to New York and then in June 2009, Robert Carter moved to Chicago, putting an end to regular performances for the group in Baltimore. However, the team still reunites occasionally for special shows and festivals.

Mister Licorice was also an out of town guest at the Philly Improv Theater (PHIT) in September 2008 and January 2009.
