Michael Pollock

Michael Pollock is musical director at The Second City Training Center Los Angeles and a featured solo pianist on Main St. U.S.A in Disneyland.

Michael is the author of Musical Improv Comedy: Creating Songs in the Moment, Musical Direction for Improv and Sketch Comedy, and How to Write Funny Lyrics: The Comedy Songwriting Manual. Each book is the first ever published on its subject.

Michael's first local job: Staff piano player at the Comedy Store, where he worked with standup comics and comedy improv groups, 6 nights a week.

He served as musical director for the Disneyland Resort’s first comedy improv revue, The Department of Untapped Hilarity – D.U.H. He also spent several years as musical director of ComedySportz Los Angeles, The Impromptones and IOWest’s Opening Night: The Improvised Musical.

Michael led the first master class in musical direction at the renowned Chicago Improv Festival in 2005, and his books are in use by musicians and actors all over the world.

He is an alumnus of The University of Texas at Austin, Pacific Conservatory of Performing Arts and the Grove School of Music, where he studied composition and arranging with the lat, great Dick Grove.

Michael also has numerous TV and film credits.
