Exploring in improv means to make moves that help to find the logic, philosophy or rationale behind an absurd character.

The voice of reason may attempt to come up with a justification. Otherwise, the absurd character might have a consistent philosophy to describe their motivations.

Exploration supports increasingly ridiculous specifics as they come up with one simple consistent point of view or reasoning. A character's game will explore a consistent philosophy throughout the scene and therefore won't have to find a new one as new specifics are developed. After resting the game, they would continue to find a new way to connect their original logic to new scenarios.
