Baltimore Musical Improv
Baltimore Musical Improv is a peer-led, all-volunteer nonprofit project fiscally sponsored by Fractured Atlas, dedicated to fostering musical improv in Baltimore.
The project facilitates and organizes a variety of activities, including classes, workshops, and performances at venues like Baltimore Improv Group (BIG) and Highwire Improv, as well as independent events. Volunteers handle roles such as coordination, administration, and event planning, ensuring a supportive and inclusive environment. The project focuses on creating opportunities for performers to connect, collaborate, and grow their skills in a safe, welcoming space where everyone is encouraged to explore their creative potential.
What began in 2017 as a series of monthly workshops expanded into its current form in 2023. The project brings together performers of all experience levels to share the joy of musical improv and build connections within the local improv community.
As a volunteer-run nonprofit project, Baltimore Musical Improv prioritizes safety, inclusion, and growth. Its mission is to make musical improv accessible and fun, providing a space where participants can learn, perform, and support each other in a nurturing and collaborative environment.
